Jesuit priest and tribal rights activist Stan Swamy passed away on Monday afternoon. He was put on ventilator support in Mumbai’s Holy Family Hospital just two days ago. Swamy had contracted covid-19 and was taken to a private hospital over a month ago.
His death news came in as Dr Ian D’Souza of Holy Family Hospital said to the Bomby High Court that the Swamy passed away 1:30 pm on monday.
Last year on October 8, he was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Elgar Prishad case. Swamy was the oldest among the arrested person in the case and he was frail and ailling too. He was suffering from the advanced stage of Parkinson’s disease. He was denied the bails many times.
