BY: MOHAMMED NADEEM UDDIN QASMI.

15th Night of Shaban or Shab e Barat is one of the blessed nights in the Islamic history ,and is one of the most revered nights among Muslims, in which Muslims seek Allah’s forgiveness and blessings and repent over their sins, and it is also called Laylat-ul-Baraa ,because Allah frees His sinful servants who were destined for Hell.
In which, the names of the souls of all those who are born and of all those who are to depart from this world are determined. One’s actions are raised and sustenance sent down.
.There are many ahadith in its significance
1.The hadith is narrated by Hazrat Ali (RA) in which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said about 15th of Shaban in these words:
“When it is the fifteenth of Shaban, then stand (in worship) at night and fast during the day. Because Allah descends in this night at sunset to the first heaven and says: ‘Is there any seeker of forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Is there any seeker of sustenance, that I may sustain him? Is there anyone in affliction, that I may remove his affliction? Is there anyone like this, like that (and so on)’. This continues until Fajr.” (Ibn Majah)

2.In another hadith, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “In the fifteenth night of Shaban, Allah manifests and forgives all His creation except for the Mushrik (idolater) and the spiteful.” (Ibn Majah)

3.The Mother of believers Hazrat Aisha (RA) reported: “The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: ‘On the middle night of Shaban (that is, Shab-e-Barat), Allah most high descends to the lowest heaven and remits more sins than the hair of the goats of Banu Kalb.’” (Tirmidhi)

4.Hazrat Aisha (RA) also narrated that, “I missed Allah’s Messenger during the night and found Him in al-Baqui’. He (PBUH) said: Were you afraid that Allah and His Messenger would deal unjustly with you? I said: Allah’s Messenger, I thought that you had gone to some of your other wives. He (SAW) said: Verily Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, comes down to the heaven of the world in “the middle night of Shaban” and forgives sins even more abundant than the hair of the goats of Kalb.” (Tirmidhi)
WHAT SHOULD WE DO IN IT?
1..Make use of this blessed night by involving your self in individual nafl prayers. That includes recitation of quran, any zikr, nafl salah and most importantly, Dua! Make as much dua as possible for the MUSLIM Ummah ،and for yourself, Especially from this global outbreak(Corona virus)
2–You may also visit the graves of your loved ones, as it was done by our beloved Prophet(SAW) as well. However, it is not mandatory۔
3..Repent to God and ask for forgiveness of sins.
4..Pray for sustenance.
5.Make nafil fasting in next day, it has many merits, and it is habit of prophet Muhammad (PCBM) These are at home in this year .Because of the Corona virus,
the whole country has been locked down.

But some people are not forgiven even on blessed night as mentioned in the hadeeth.
(if they do not repent).
7 Types of People Who Will Not Be Forgiven Even on Shab e Baraat.

1) Mushrik (those who associate partners with Allah).

2) The one who cuts off the ties of kinship (qata’ rehmi).

3) The one who covers his ankles with pants, shalwar or any other garment (for men only)

4) The one who is disobedient towards his parents

5) The one who drinks Alcohol

6) The one who kills an innocent Muslim.

7) The one who keeps Keena (enmity) or nourishes malice in his heart for other Muslims.
There for, We must think if we have any of these sins?If so, we must repent.
May Allaah give us taofiq to appreciate this blessed night. Aameen!
